The theme of this book is personal experience of Soviet airwomen during World War II. This book consists of contributions of about sixty individual authors, who tell the story of three women's air wings formed by Marina Raskova, famous woman pilot/navigator. There are over sixty illustrations, mostly dating to World War II. The editor/translator of this book has taught Russian History at the University of Ottawa and was employed by the Canadian Department of National Defense. She is recipient of the 1999 Mary Zirin Prize awarded by the Association for Women in Slavic Studies (affiliated with the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies). - from Amzon
